Good morning: Will what you do today matter? Will it make a difference in the world? It might not seem that way. What will Saturday house cleaning matter? A load of laundry washed won’t help the neighborhood. Overtime at work won’t even be a tiny blip on the radar of the nation’s economy. So why bother? There is more to the picture than meets the eye. Even if no one else notices us or sees what we do, God does. We matter to Him. Every hair on our head is known to Him. Even more important to the Lord is our eternal wellbeing. His love for each of us is so great that He punished His only begotten Son for our sins that we might be His children and heirs of eternal life. “For Christ died for sins once for all, the righteous for the unrighteous to bring you to God” (1 Peter 3:18). What we do today truly matters because of what Jesus did for us on the cross. We are now God’s workmanship created in Christ Jesus to do good works. All we do is to reflect Christ’s light into the lives of those around us. When you are kind to family members and helpful around the house today, God calls it a good work. It makes a difference in a world filled with selfishness. When you share with someone overwhelmed by fear that there is forgiveness and security in Christ, it makes a real difference. When you spend time with the Lord in prayer asking that His will be done in hearts and lives around the world, it matters. “The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective” (James 5:16). Jesus has reconciled us to God by the sacrifice of His own holy life. Salvation is already ours by faith. Let us live that way. May the Lord graciously use us this day in making a difference to His praise and glory. A lunch will be served after the service. Please note: Seating in the sanctuary will be reserved for family members. Additional seating will be available in the fellowship hall with monitors for viewing the service. It gives the Elders and ushers an idea of how many people to prepare for. When you sign up you can also see how full the service will be, and if you wish, consider attending the other service. By signing up, you can easily be informed if that were advisable because of contact with someone at the service who later became ill. The governor’s mask order is still in effect for all indoor spaces, including churches. Masks are available in the entry if you forget yours.
