Hello everyone:

Finally….after months of anticipation, planning, and many hours of work by the committee, the celebration of our school’s 25th anniversary is here. But why all the attention and effort? Isn’t 25 just a number, one more than 24 and one less than 26?

There is nothing remarkable about 25 itself, but it is worthwhile to periodically pause and reflect on where we’ve been and what lies ahead. Milestone anniversaries provide that opportunity. Looking back over the past quarter century of our school, two things stand out: First of all, we have nothing to boast about in ourselves. The success and longevity of our school are not to our credit. We are no different than others. We are by nature sinful and that shows up daily in actions and words which are contrary to God’s will.

But what is truly cause for grateful celebration is God’s grace in calling us to faith in Jesus as our Savior. He has brought us together as a spiritual family and provided the means to begin and maintain a school dedicated above all to teaching the wonders of salvation to future generations. “What we have heard and known, what our fathers have told us. We will not hide them from their children; we will tell the next generation the praiseworthy deeds of the LORD, his power, and the wonders he has done” (Ps. 78:3-4).

The past 25 years are an amazing record of God’s love quietly unfolding day by day and year by year in our school. Looking ahead, we can count on more of the same, for “the grass withers, and the flowers fall, but the word of our God stands forever” (Is. 40:8). Come and thank the Lord! Bring a friend!

The weekend activities begin tomorrow (Sat.) morning with the 5K fun run/walk/stroll at 10 a.m. The forecast is for a warm day, but we’ll have plenty of water and shade on hand. Everyone is welcome! This is a no-stress, untimed event. Don’t forget a hat and sunscreen. After the race stick around for a hot dog lunch.

The service Sunday morning begins at 9:30. A son of the congregation and alumnus of our school, Pastor Sam Rodebaugh, will be our guest speaker. Both the Sunday school and adult choir will be singing. Immediately following the service, an anniversary program will be presented. A catered picnic lunch will be served on the grounds after the program. Please feel free to bring a change of clothes along and get comfortable for lunch, visiting, and lawn games. Also, take plenty of pictures to share with those unable to attend!

In Jesus’ name,

Pastor
