Good morning: If God really exists, why don’t I see Him? Why doesn’t He speak from heaven and remove all doubt? Why doesn’t He show His power and care to prove His love for us? The unbelieving world has always used arguments like these against the Lord’s followers and as an excuse not to trust in Him. Have you wondered how to respond? None of the objections is valid. The one true God isn’t hiding. He isn’t silent. He is constantly showing His love in His providential care. At a place called Lystra the apostles Paul and Barnabas told the people, “We are bringing you good news, telling you to turn from these worthless things to the living God, who made heaven and earth and sea and everything in them….He has not left himself without testimony: He has shown kindness by giving you rain from heaven and crops in their seasons; he provides you with plenty of food and fills your hearts with joy” (Acts 14:15-17). We see God today, not in a blinding laser beam from heaven but in His earthly blessings for our lives. A beautiful summer day, a farmers’ market filled with fresh garden produce, time with family and friends, and the natural wonders of lakes, woods, plains, and mountains are not happy chance accidents. It is not by blind fate that we have them to enjoy. They are blessings from the one true God and evidence of His existence and loving care. But God does so much more. He doesn’t just give us a general knowledge of Himself in His creation. He communicates with us directly in words which we can hear and read. “All Scripture is God-breathed” (2 Tim. 3:16). How awesome that the holy, eternal God would speak to mortal human beings who deserve to be condemned for their sin! God’s love is so great that He didn’t stop at speaking with us; He became one of us to live here on this earth He made. “The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us” (Jn. 1:14). God’s only begotten Son was born in the tiny village of Bethlehem, was seen by thousands, died for the sins of all people, rose in glory, and will be seen by all at His return on the last day. God isn’t hiding. He is really there for all to see, hear, and trust in for every good and perfect gift. Don’t miss Him today. Enjoy all His gifts for body and soul. Listen to Him in His Word. Praise Him for His grace and look forward to receiving even more of it tomorrow in His house. Yours in Christ, Pastor Service time tomorrow is 9 a.m.
