Good morning:

Sometimes words fail. Sometimes they fail to really communicate all that fills your mind and heart. Try as you might, you can’t find the right words or enough words. That is true for me in looking back over the past 26 years of serving the Lord here at Messiah. Words fall short in listing and describing God’s overwhelming grace shown to my family and me and our congregation.

David writes in Ps. 34:8, “Taste and see that the LORD is good; blessed is the one who takes refuge in him.” We have seen and tasted the Lord’s goodness in so many ways. His mercies have been new every morning without fail. Each day has been filled with his forgiving love in Christ. His Word has been an unfailing lamp to our feet and a light for our path. He has heard every cry for help and come to our rescue. He has united and preserved us as like-minded believers in the family of faith. He has blessed us through mutual love and concern for one another. The Lord who laid down his life for us on the cross promises to never leave or forsake us.

Our words may fail, but the Lord’s Word stands forever as the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes. May that Word strengthen your faith today and guide you on the Lord’s path. And tomorrow we have another opportunity to glorify the Savior with our words of praise.

Yours in Christ,

Pastor

Please note that the service tomorrow is at 10:30 a.m. Sunday school teachers will be installed. Following the service, all are invited to stay for a meal and program for Pastor and Sue’s farewell.
